The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament

In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit is present at the beginning of creation, as the “Spirit of God” moves over the waters in Genesis. The Spirit also empowers prophets, kings, and individuals to fulfill God’s purposes. Examples include the Spirit descending on King David and prophets like Isaiah and Ezekiel, who speak under the Spirit’s influence.

The Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ

In the New Testament, the Holy Spirit plays a key role in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is present at Jesus’ conception (through the Virgin Mary) and descends upon Him at His baptism in the form of a dove. Jesus is led by the Spirit throughout His ministry, performing miracles and teaching with divine authority.
